It can happen multiple times, in different environments, and with different people. For many LGBTQ+ individuals, coming out is not only about sharing identity \u2014 it is also about navigating uncertainty, vulnerability, and the possibility of being misunderstood or rejected. Because of this, coming out can be mentally and emotionally exhausting, even when it goes well.<\/span><\/p><h4><b>Why Coming Out Requires So Much Emotional Energy<\/b><\/h4><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before sharing, you may think about how the other person will respond. You may replay possible outcomes, consider what you want to say, and decide how much to share. During the conversation, you may be monitoring reactions and managing your own emotional responses at the same time. Afterward, there may be a period of reflection about how it went. Each of these stages requires energy. Over time, repeated experiences of coming out can create cumulative emotional fatigue.<\/span><\/p><h4><b>Positive Experiences Can Still Be Draining<\/b><\/h4><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is important to recognize that emotional exhaustion is not only tied to negative experiences. Even positive or neutral responses can be draining. Some people feel confused by this \u2014 they may think, the conversation went well, so why do I feel so tired?
