Online Teen therapy ages (13 to 17)
They’re in their room. They’re “fine” — in a tone that ends the conversation. And you can’t stop thinking about it. Our licensed and qualified therapists treat this age as its own thing — not a smaller version of adulthood, not a bigger version of childhood.

How online therapy works for Teenagers

Teen privacy and confidentiality — Read this part
This is the part we’re most direct about: your teen needs enough privacy to be honest with their therapist, and you need enough information to actually parent. Here’s exactly how that balance works. What’s discussed in session generally stays between your teen and their therapist — it isn’t relayed to you session by session. What does get shared with you is typically limited to specific safety concerns: risk of harm to your teen or to someone else, or situations state law requires disclosing regardless of a teen’s wishes. Your teen’s therapist explains this distinction directly to both of you before treatment starts, so nobody discovers the boundaries partway through and feels blindsided by them.
Issues our teen therapists address
Anxiety. Constant worry, perfectionism, or physical symptoms like a racing heart before school or social situations.
Depression. A flatness or hopelessness that’s lasted weeks, not days — sometimes hidden behind a normal-looking routine.
School and college pressure. Grades, testing, and admissions stress that’s tipped from motivating into overwhelming.
Friendships and social media. The specific weight of comparison, exclusion, or conflict that plays out partly online and follows a teen home.
Identity. Questions about who they are — including gender, sexuality, culture, or values — especially when navigating family expectations that pull in a different direction.
Family conflict. Ongoing tension with parents or siblings that’s worn the household down.
Self-esteem. A persistent sense of not being good enough, often masked by achievement or by acting like none of it matters.
Trauma. Something that happened recently or years ago that’s still affecting how safe a teen feels.

Will you tell me everything my teen says?
No — most of what’s discussed stays confidential, with clearly explained exceptions around safety.
Can my teen start therapy without me being fully involved in sessions?
Yes — teens are typically the ones in the room, with parents involved at intake and periodic check-ins on progress.
What if my teen is in crisis?
Therapists follow standard safety protocols, which always include informing a parent — explained to both of you upfront, never sprung on your teen as a surprise.
Can my teen see a therapist without me knowing what’s discussed?
Session content stays private by default, aside from safety-related exceptions your teen’s therapist explains at the start.
How much does teen therapy cost?
Depends on your specific plan, verified before your first session; sliding scale starts at $55.
How does online therapy work for teens?
